Joining First2Group – My First3Months

I have been with First2Group for a just over 3 months now, and what a company to work for. Joining the team after being hired by James Torkington (joint Managing Director and Founder of First2Group) and Alice Belfield ( IT and Digital Marketing Manager at First2Group), at an apprenticeship boot camp with The Juice Academy, brain child of Tangerine PR, I could never have imagined having so many opportunities and experiences at my feet as what I do now.

As a 19 year old working full time at one of my local pub/restaurants having finished my 6 month travelling spree, I can’t say I had ever come across a start up business before, let alone even considered what it might be like to work along side the recruitment industry… but here I am, learning more than ever before.

My favourite thing about working for a business start up company specialising in recruitment? The variety and possibility for so much expansion and growth.

Currently posting, writing and interacting on behalf of 7 companies, 2 of which being brand new to our umbrella, it’s obvious that First2Group is expanding at an exceptional rate. Being so new to the industry and business, I can’t describe my excitement and appreciation of being a part of this.

I have experienced so much within in the past 3 months that I would never have had the opportunity to be a part of had I not been taken on by First2Group. From talking to the girls of Altrincham Grammar School along side Lucy Twemlow, Cubiq Recruitment’s Client Services Manager to attending a client meeting with Cherryred’s Senior Consultant, Karla Millar; I’ve attended Michelle Mone OBE’s talk at the Entrepreneurs @ Manchester Speaker Series with my boss, Alice Belfield and have been fortunate enough to attend The Greater Manchester Sports Awards with Murali Goluguri, award winning entrepreneur and joint Founder and Managing Director of First2Group, along side Journey 9 (this years sponsors of the awards). Being fortunate enough to meet the likes of Laura Wolfe, Journey 9 Founder and Managing Director, Sarah Collins, BBC Sport Producer and Olympic Gymnast, Beth Tweddle to mention a few at this event, made it even more enjoyable to write about; you can check out my blog on this here.

With such a variety in industry type, everyday I learn something that no other job would give me; from Accounting and Finance and Engineering to IT and Hospitality, my knowledge and understanding of a range of expertise is growing.

2016 is set to be a big one for all the companies, and First2Group won’t be lagging… watch this space for special things to come.
